Ok I think I FORCED mine by following this from another forum:

You manually check for the update:

1. Install Anycut
2. New Shortcut
3. Activity
4. Hidden Menu (There are a gazillion entries for this, pick the 2ND one. (This means you have a screen with some lines on it, use your finger on one of them and push up to scroll and you will see different things...)
5. Scroll all the way to the bottom and select OTA Update Test (This will place a shortcut on the screen with a android icon) press it and now you have some options)
6. Google OTA Update Server Check-in (press this and it should give you a success message)

7. Press OTA Update Test with Full Package ( it will say there are no updates or you will get a update screen)

I did this for 2 days after the FAIL at the store, There is only 2 ways to get this OTA or the manual way posted on several forums.  So far mine has not rebooted in an application. To enlarge an icon press and hold it till you get a blue line around the icon, release and you can change the size.  I still have not found a way to search inside an email account for key words or information, so if someone knows please pass on. On my mobile you just press the menu key and the keyboard pops up. But on the Slate I cant find anything that works.  The rent movie aps work but since I dont rent its not a big deal for me. Having it not reboot in an app is my key for getting the update. So far I am happy but sad that T-Mobile let us down by pushing this via google.
